Meet some of us

Prof. Val Zwiller heads the Quantum Nano Photonics group in the Applied Physics department of KTH, the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden and has extensive experience in the field of quantum nano photonics with a h-index of 69. In addition, Val co-founded Single Quantum in 2012, a company that develops and produces high-performance single photon detectors and has steadily grown into a leading quantum tech company.

Dr. Richard Schatz has been engaged in research and education in photonics at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, since 1987. He earned his Ph.D. in 1995 from KTH. From 1992 to 1993, he was a Visiting Scientist at AT&T Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey. His research focuses on the modeling, design, and characterization of fiber-optical transmitters – including edge-emitting lasers, VCSELs, and modulators – as well as fiber-optic links utilizing both on-off keying and multilevel modulation formats. He has extensive experience in industrial collaboration and is the creator of LaserMatrix, a laser design software widely used in academia and the photonics industry for semiconductor laser development.

Dr. Jonas Almlöf has worked as a quantum researcher both in industry and at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), where he received his PhD in 2016. He visited Zhejiang University, Hangzhou for postgraduate studies in photonics and quantum optics. In industry, he has been involved in several projects in quantum communication, error-correction codes, quantum key distribution (QKD) and quantum randomness as well as patenting quantum technology.
